I never would have thought that the world in its state today, will live to see another war. Sure, there are always wars around us but always settled through making policies to negotiate a peaceful solution. Yesterday, when I heard the news at 9, my heart sank. All I could feel is sadness, depressed that Canada couldn't do more to prevent this from happening. Our leaders have done the most they could to prevent destruction. To prevent that arrogant country from its intentions, whatever that is.
This is not even a war. The United States is being a “pain in the ass” and who says that life is fair? So the US tells inspectors to go into Baghdad to look for nuclear weapons of mass destruction. All that the United Nations could find were these missiles that exceeded the ranges by some small amount. The UN commands Iraq to dispose of these “Al Samood” missiles and they destroyed 40 of them. That is compliance! Bush then positions a quarter of a million ground troops in Katar with heavy artillery just outside the borders. They send spy planes flying over Iraq to gather intelligence. OK, we have discovered that Iraq can’t do much to retaliate if indeed a war breaks out. Now we should invade them and this will guarantee a quick War.
I have nothing left to say. I am disappointed that the world’s superpower had not set an example but to promote war by acting on its own beliefs and disregarding the opinions of its closest allies. I am grateful that Canada is not involved.
